Acorn Syrah Axiom Alegría Vineyards 2007, 87 points

2007 Acorn Syrah Axiom Alegría Vineyards (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley)

At first smell this wine jumps out and is very complex with aromas of orange peel, leather, dark chocolate and violets with strong blackberry. Very nice start however the palate was not as explosive. The start was kind of dull and was not what I expected from a syrah. The mid palate got dark and chewy and quickly went into the finish and got very dirt leather and wet leaves. The finish lingered of bitterness. The overall experience from the wine was nice but it lacked in some balance and fruit. I found it just ok for 30 dollars.
