2006 Chateau Bois Redon
(France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Superieur)
This is a soft mild Bordeaux. The nose has red cherry, anisette and some soft floral hints. I get a little industrial feel in the nose. The color is more pinkish than I would like to see in a Bordeaux. The palate is velvety with very little tannins on the start and they kick in a touch on the mid palate. The palate starts soft with green veggies and a little cherry. This wine is not big fruit on the start and has almost no oak or wood taste to it. The mid palate quickly transitions to a cigar pipe tobacco taste and is a little bitter on the end. This wine is not an explosion of tastes but for 10 bucks a bottle it is a nice soft Bordeaux that is worth trying.
