1996 Chateau Potelle Chardonnay VGS Mt. Veeder

Beautiful golden color hinting on bright yellow. The nose has lemon peel, melon and anisette.  The palate is a little hot and not real long.  Very jumpy for a 1996.  I expected this wine to be more velvety. I only get some lemon on the palate and it quickly transitions to a spicy feeling.  Little black pepper and lemon peel on the finish.  I thought this chardonnay was of good quality but I would have to pass at 50 dollars a bottle.
