2003 Foris Merlot
(USA, Oregon, Southern Oregon, Rogue Valley)
On American Airlines first class sipping this wine. Chocolate and green pepper on the nose with a hint of sweet cherry. The palate is full flavored and well balanced with lilacs. The floral aspect really kicks in after about 20 minutes. It has a satin round feel. The tannins are just right. The transition is still full with flavors with lots of cedar. The finish is round and not too bitter. The tannins are soft and linger. Not bad for an airline wine. It is sweeter and smoother than expected. This is worth a try and is a decent Merlot.
