2004 Ladera Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain – 91 points
(USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain)
2500 cases of this are made. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Nice nose. Loads of jammy feel. Like strawberry smuckers jelly. A hint of French oak rounds it off nicely. Medium bodied with darker fruits and a silky texture with a nice dose of black currant. The fruit is solid in this and it is a pretty bold wine, dark cherries and milk chocolate. Tannins are just right and really balance the wine. It felt a little young and I think this will be a huge hit in a few years. The palate was long and meaningful. Definite try for 69 dollars.
