Sanford Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills – Sta. Rita Hills
(USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills – Sta. Rita Hills)
Had this wine at Blue Sea in the MGM Grand. This pinot went very well with some caviar on my first course. The color was a typical pinot. The nose had bing cherry, vanilla, raspberries, rhubarb and pipe tobacco. The palate was a little hot on the alcohol to start. Good initial bright red fruits but the tannins were a touch too much. The mid palate was soft and a little creamy with strawberries and the finish was longer with some English tea, smokey. This was a nice Pinot but I think it needs a couple years to settle a little.
