2006 Schug Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

(USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast)

Sipping this wine while at the Wrigley family private ranch on the back side of Catalina Island. Nice complex wine. Thin on color. Floral nose with some cinnamon and vanilla. The palate was a little dark on opening the bottle and really opened up after about 20 minutes. I think this wine needs a couple more years. Nice sour cherries on the start and this wine was fresh and complex at the same time. Lots of flavors and they were balanced. The tannins were just right. The transition had some eucalyptus and black olives. The finish was long and smooth but went a little too earthy for me. Overall a good wine and you should try it.
